Description
Old bush vine planted by Danie Jnr’s great grandfather in 1947. The vineyard is registered as a single vineyard, making it the second oldest registered Chenin block in the country. Originally 6ha in size, only 1.1ha of the very low yielding vineyard remains.
Winemaking is very hands on. Hand-picked, 50% whole bunch pressed, 50% crushed and destemmed. Settled overnight, natural fermentation in Concrete egg and French oak barrels. 10 months barrel maturation in 500L barrels. The wine is bottled unfiltered and unfined.
