Vineyard
These Chenin Blanc bush vines were planted in 1976, taking root in a sandy loam soil on a southern slope. The rows are strategically aligned in a north/south direction with drip irrigation that was installed a few years ago. Adding a touch of whimsy, the vineyard is fondly known as "Eselgraf," a translation from Afrikaans that amusingly references the neighbouring open field that served as the final resting place of the donkeys that once toiled the land.
Soil Type
Sandy loam soil
Vinification
Fermentation occurred through a combination of one-third barrel fermentation and two-thirds tank fermentation, followed by several months of contact with the lees for further development before bottling.
