Vineyard
It gives us great pleasure to introduce our third old vine single vineyard, again Chenin blanc, planted right next to Skaliekop in decomposed granite. Planted in 1981 on the Paardebosch farm, this vineyard contributes to both our main Chenin blanc as well as Aristargos and it will continue to do so. We have been farming this vineyard since winter 2013 and it has been a pillar in our granite approach towards our white wines. The wine has a directness with a fresh, saline-like linearity and amazing tension and length, something so typical of the Paardeberg. Plat’bos, like with the other two single vineyards, are true to the local dialect of the people from the Siebritskloof whom have been working with this vineyard long before we became involved on the Paardebosch farm. “Plat” means low or flat and “bos” means bush (vines). It refers to the small, low bush vines, true to the mountain and typical of the Swartland dialect… Harvested in the first half of the second part of January 2018, being one of the earliest Chenin blanc vineyards we work with. Plat’bos is our fourth wine qualifying for the Old Vine Project (OVP) seal.
